Motivation Factors of POLW

Hi Ashley! :) In this entry, I will share with you more about what I have research on Port of Lost Wonder. I think the relevant motivators that will interest you to visit POLW would be due to the push factors. Push factors are also the internal factors that will attract people to the particular location and stimulate the demand for tourism.

The first push factors would be the different experience created to give the customers. At the port of lost wonder, the way the place has been designed specially gives a unique experience to families. Its signature water play area attracts many consumers as it has a very enticing architecture. The water play area which is known as the pirate ship also allows kids to have fun as they will be able to stand by at the water jets and water guns or even take the slides off from the pirate ship. It has 3 slides where it is red, green, and blue in colour respectively and the red slide being the fastest. The way the infrastructure was built also gives children a very” fun and outdoor “ feeling as well as the thrill and excitement that the kids will have just by seeing the infrastructure. There is also a curiosity garden where children will be able to be learnt basic gardening skills. Additionally, there are also an area known as hatch patch where kids will be able to play their traditional games such as the champak and also a sandy area where kids could play soccer with their parents. Lastly, there is also a hopscotch area where the young’s could play and bond with their parents.

Secondly another motivator would be the educational and fun activities that POLW has specially designed to cater for their customers. They provide activities of a wide range, which consists of educational to fun and creative. The most popular activity where many kids enjoyed themselves would be the Bubble party and ports and planks. Bubble Party is where children are allowed to create their own favorite character using the foam and also jumps into the bubble party. While port and planks is an activity where children are able to pick up a pot, pick some seeds and see them grow. Not only that,  if the children are feelings hungry, they are able to pick some of the berries and fruits that are ripe and grown there. Educational activities such as teach us wild where children will be able to have a chance to interact with birds and also at the same time discover and learn more about the important nature and animals.  Next would be the very own POLW boogie where children are able to use their creativity skills to create their own best funky happy dance moves. Another activity where the children can use their creativity skills would be the tree of wonder activity. This is when kids are able to make your very own souvenir or either grows your own plant such as leaf mobile, leave craft greeting cards etc. There are also board games where children can come together and make friends and play together and also to allow them to prove that they are the masters of the board games. POLW also provide traditional games where children can come to enjoy old school types of games. There is also story telling sessions where the children can be one of the stars in the stories and allow them to come to life.

Over at Port of Lost Wonder, they have daily programs that are specially catered for the children that will be different everyday. The activities will change each day thus would give new experience and sensations to the children. There are also different activities conducted during weekends and weekdays. At POLW, the children will also be able to learn how to manage their finance. Upon each visit, the children will received their first bag of curio coins to buy a selection of goods and services located at POLW. If the children need more curio coins that can be exchanged, it can be done at their souvenir shop- just wonders at $1 for 10 coins. Additionally, those activities could help to further interest the kid because of the POLW port pass. Each child who visits POLW will be given a port pass where they would be able to customize with stickers within. They will be ale to collect achievement stamps whenever they participate in an activity at POLW. When they have achieved five stamps, they would be able to redeem special prizes at just wonder.

The third motivator that would help to attract visitors to POLW would be the new experiences and interesting calendar of events that POLW have organized to cater to the kids. They would usually organized special events during school holidays such as POLW anniversary during April, spooky junior during October, Christmas joy during December. All this events can help to create guest’s loyalty and also the large variety of events and activities to engage the children and adult to create memories. The spooky junior event is a Halloween events planned for the kids. There was also a best-dressed competition for the kids hence kids were dressed in all sorts of different characters and had a runway show. Another one would be during this Christmas joy event where the children could write their wishes on the tree and POLW management team actually called some of the children parents up to let them know that they will be dropping by to their house to give a surprise to their kids by delivering the gifts that the kids wish for. After POLW’s operation hours, POLW also conduct events such as bbq under the stars for the public, where the public could book an area over at POLW and organize their own gathering with their friends.

The above would be the spooky junior event held last year at POLW.

The forth motivator would be the safety and security that motivates people to come. Not only this attraction can statisy the children, it can also be able to attract the adults especially those parents who have brought their children there. POLW is an attraction that parents will find appealing to go is because while their children are having fun, they are also able to relax themselves over there as POLW is an attraction that is enclosed where children are not leave the attraction area as there are two POLW employees will be standing at the entrance to make sure that no children are able to leave. Secondly, the security at POLW is also very tight especially the water play area. At the water play area, there are two lifeguards situated over there, one is located at the top of the pirate ship, and another lifeguard is located at the bottom! This could prevent unnecessary injuries. A plus point would be that all the staffs that is working at POLW are first aid trained. Thus, the tight security allows parents to feel less worried over their children’s safety and therefor could chill out and enjoy themselves at the same time.  One of the places at POLW that parents could relax themselves would be those beach mats that is placed over there facing the water play area. The parents are able to relax themselves as well as look out for their kids that would be playing at the water play area.
